But these silvery moments, shimmering like starlight, slowly drip from our fingertips into the corners of our mind, and pool together like a salve over old wounds.

This painting plays with shades of blue: Soft, classic Cobalt merges with bright, vibrant Ultramarine Blue, and blends into the deep, blue-green hues of Monastral Blue.

Monastral Blue, also known as Pthalocyanine Blue, was discovered by accident in the 1930's when a blackish "impurity" was removed during a dye-making process. This impurity, when spread thin, revealed itself to be a stunning deep blue, and was made into a pigment of its own.

Interestingly, Monastral Blue cannot be faithfully photographed. The camera reads it as a brighter hue, but cannot capture the vivid depth of the blue-green undertones. To see its true nature, one must look at it in person.
